Upgrading
Human Resource Development Authority delivers upgrading skill development
program as part of our sponsorship initiative. Community members who apply for
sponsorship to any of the program are required to attend the program as a proof
of their commitment. We believe that it will help to increase the success ratio
of sponsored students, as they would know more about their career choices as
they go through the skill development program and on the other hand it will
also help to spare some of the resources in terms of time and cost.

Summer Student Program:
Human Resource Development Authority is committed to helping post secondary
students continue and complete their education by providing students an
opportunity to gain work experience and earn income to continue their studies.
Under this program employers are eligible to receive a wage incentive to assist
in the creation of new positions. Employers who provide an average of 35 hours
per week of part time career related employment experience during the summer
vacation of the school year are eligible to receive wage incentives for up to
two and half month of employment. Participating students have opportunity to
gain valuable experience necessary for developing work skills and may establish
contact leading them to permanent employment in field of their choice.
Applications are received throughout the year identifying potential employers
in Nelson House and Thompson. Students are encouraged to contact summer student
program coordinator by June 15 of each year.

Life
Skills
It is important for our youth to understand how the world is understood by our
traditions and the knowledge of our ancestors, acquired over centuries, by
living with nature and its environment as they have to carry it to the next
generation. We have this responsibility to integrate these life long learning’s
into a course to be taught to our students. This 15 days course is offered as
part of upgrading skill development program where students learn about
traditional ways of dealing with complex problems of western world. It helps
them understand their concept of existence; it gives meanings to their life. It
helps them motivate for learning and participate in the process of life.
